66 vin number location

I've a 66 fleetside and I have found the vin plate in the drivers door opening at roof level. Where are the number stamps located on the main chassis?. I have been told there are 2 positions for these numbers. Not sure where to start looking.Phil.

Look on top of the driver's side frame rail about 2 feet back from the radiator support. Don't know of another.

Re: 66 vin number location

Phil:

There is one location on the '64-'66 Chevy truck frame rail with the last 8 of the 12 digits in the factory VIN. Check the drivers side frame rail next to the exhaust manifold. I use a foam sanding pad or a piece of steel wool to clean the frame rail. This will make the last 8 digits more visible. Your should begin with a 6, since you have a 1966.

I hope this helps.

Tony
