Fitting flowmasters 40 series
Can anyone show me how they fit their flowmasters? I bought some but I dont see how they will fit in the existing location of OG muffler. Well it doesnt help that I got the inlet in the center. I was just guessing, but now that I have the bed off I can see it probably wont work.

I don't have any pics, but mine are mounted vertically between the trailing arms on either side of the driveline.

you can mount them anyway you want as long as the inlet is the inlet and outlet is the outlet, unless they're reversible.

Mine are horizontal, but they arn't that far back though, I think their near the back of the cab area, but they are tucked up really well, their higher then the front cross member thats for sure, & my truck is really low. I can take some pic's for you when I get home if you want.

My exhaust exits the side, so they are mounted here....All my pipes are above the bottom of the frame....

Here are my 40's I have a 350/350 combo in the truck and I had to put the mufflers at an angle because of the exhaust exit from the engine and the frame rails. I could have put them straight up and down, but they would be lower to the ground that way.

hah... this is turning out to be a fricken cool thread! I like that angled idea. and i also like chiefs outside the frame rails! im interested in how he cross over the rails from the manifold?

Whoops, I didn't realize you had a 65, mines a 71, so maybe you don't need my pic's after all, I think their pretty similar underneath though, trailing arms ect.

These are not Flowmasters, EDELBROCK SDT'S, but very similar in shape and size, with offset inlet. I think it would have worked fine if they were center inlet.

I have my pipes ran over the tranny cross member right to two 40's. dumps right before the crossmember under the cab. All the exhaust is above the frame. Wouldnt suggest doing it my way because the floor of the truck sees alot of heat and its loud in the cab.
