Re: Project OverKill

The drivers wheel and the alignment need attention for sure..... I took a 3 lb hammer to the steering box to get it removed. No worries....gots a 71' disc front ready to install after the frame shortening and the sandblaster!!!!

Re: Project OverKill

Ready for the cab removal. Gonna pull the cab with my engine hoist. I started grinding on the firewall removing the small amount surface rust. Firewall to be shaved.

Now to get to real work, lol.

If all else fails, I still have a gooseneck flatdeck. It has a winch, I just need to replace the solenoid.

I remember! Agree, I think this is a great truck to start with! Going to go slow and do it right. Lots of OverKill things planned.

Re: Project OverKill

Alex - I would leave it as a roller. Easier to move around, and it helps when it is time to pull the two halves together.

Chris - That would be awesome! My gooseneck is heavy. Does yours have a 6-way or 7-way plug? I have an adapter if it is a 6-way. You wanna go too when the day comes?

Sure, I'm up for a ride. It has no brakes, flat four, but I have the adapter for 6 to 4. Not like we'll need brakes for a roller frame anyways.

Re: Project OverKill

OK, I'll grab my 7 to 6 adapter, then we can plug yours into that one. Wait, I might have a 7 to 4 adapter. I need to look in the shop.

Yes yes...I feel VERY lucky to have found it (I had been looking for the "right truck" for almost a year) ,...and then to have had the opportunity to buy it. It was a REAL deal for $960.00! I have some really nice plans for her. New short bed with an oak floor, 5 speed, nicely massaged 350 or 383, ECE on the corners, sway bars front and back....not telling the color right now but she will be two tone. I'm a savin' and a savin' every day budgeting and a planning.

Re: Project OverKill

Little more done today. Got the cab completely stripped down. Just need to remove the keyed ignition...the old big paper clip trick. The wiring harness was as original and not one cut in it anywhere!!! It is amazing to me!!!
