NP205 Skidplate...
From a wrecked k5 a member has.He sold me the tranny/205, crossmember, and skidplate and it's crossmember last year.Someone was wanting to see a pic of it so here it is.Note that these 205 skidplates arent original to trucks,only blazers/jimmys,but it came with the deal so why not use it?
 Still have to finish bolting it down and driling holes in the frame but my drill junked out so that jobs on hold..And it isnt on right but I dont care Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 07-08-2007 at 05:16 PM. |

nice... your chassis looks good, nice and new looking!
I just rust busted/degreased and POR-15 mine today. Im going to take the rest of the cross members to work and sand blast them before i paint them. and hell yeah if you have it use it!! the more armor the better. Plus its OEM so its meant to fit up and be there. Did you replace the mounts for your tranny/Tcase? and if so what did you use? I bought tranny mounts(i have a SM465) from LMC and they look like stock. Stock stiff and brittle looking. I probably will use them but would like to have something that might give more flex and vibration control. i dont have Tcase mounts yet.

You just reminded me that mine was stripped and re-painted 5 months ago and is sitting behind the back seat of the Blazer. That's an easy project for next weekend...

I like it. I could have my metal shop shear a piece, and put it in the break to put that fancey bend in it, and away I will go. Good idea.

Mine are the same as Mike's-(msgross). Energy Suspension.They were already installed when I bought everything but they were new looking so I kept them.They do allow some movement but not much.

Correct if I'm wrong but I think the front edge of the skid plate is supposed to line up with the front edge of the transmission crossmember. The large hole on the skid plate gives you access to the rear transmission mount bolt.

I know,thats why I said it was mounted wrong.It was dark when I mounted it up.I didnt have a place to put it so just quickly mounted it.I'm going to drill holes and mount it where it should be eventually,I'm leaving it for now.
 Plus I have to buy a new drill first...

Like EEDGELL I am thinking of having a skid plste made up by a metal fabricator. If someone could give us some dimentions like the lenght X width X thicness it would be helpful. Better yet would be if someone could make a template and make a tracing of the angles for the bends that would also be great. By the way your chassis looks great. I just went through the same process as you on my chassis and I'm now working on my cab. There are pics of my chassis under my screenname. Look for truck progress.

I can get you the dimensions,metal thickness,etc when I take it back off.I will try to get some templates made too.As for the rear crossmember that supports the skidplate at the back,its the same one used under the lwb 4wds with the carrier bearing.It has a small skidplate attached to it on the lwb 4wds pre 70 (?).
