Windshield sealer

So I am looking to tackle the R&R of the front windshield gasket. I have read up on the removal and reinstallation but would like any information on the types of sealer/chalk used.

What did you use to seal the gasket to window and gasket to metal? I have read both for/against silicone and for/against the auto parts store stuff.

What did you do?

Re: Windshield sealer

I would go to your auto glass shop and get the stuff they use. that way you can get the right stuff. And loosen up your gasket aroung the window real good and take a air nozzel to it and blow all the gunk out. then go around both the cab and the glass inside the gasket, you don't need to put to much in either just a good even beed then take a New razor blade and clean off all the extra that comes out. "on the glass". You should be able to do it all from the outside. that should stop any leaks.
