power steering -

Is there any difference between a non power steering column, and a power steering column? In other words, can you put on a power steering unit onto a non power steering truck without changing the column or making large modifications?

Re: power steering -

I'm getting ready to swap to ps and so far, I THINK the rag joint has to be changed as they are different. That's all I have found out so far.

Re: power steering -

I am still using the manual steering column, still same huge steering wheel too because I like it. dont remember if I used the old rag joint or just kept the one with the power steering box that I got, what would the difference be in the rag joints?

Re: power steering -

i replaced the rag joint anyway, cause mine was wore out.

column itself is the same. depending on the year of the truck the intermediate shaft differs a bit between columns (at least the 70's models look diff't than mine), but this won't affect your install. i did a short writeup on how to swap (no pics, just info) and Krue put it over in the FAQ thread.

Re: power steering -

A new rag joint isn't needed if yours is in good shape. If it's in not so good shape replace it. Mine was fine so it was re-used.
