Question Short Bed Question

When I Put The Bed On My 1970 C-10 2wd It Sticks Up In The Back Like It Is Jacked Up Aliitle, But The Body Lines Line Up. Could Anyone Advise What The Problem May Been? I Have New Springs Under The Rear And Front Of The Truck. It Just Looks Alittle Funny. Any Help Or Advice On Correcting This Problem Would Be Welcome. The Truck Has Not Been Wrecked And The Frame Is Straight.

Re: Short Bed Question

are you positive the frame is straight? Take a quick measurement to the floor with a tape measure, hang from the rear frame rail to the ground and do the other side as well. Also take a look at your cab to bed gaps as well and make sure that they are uniform from top to bottom

Re: Short Bed Question

What's actually "sticking up"? The bed itself is sticking up in the back or the whole rear of the truck looks high? These trucks had a pretty good rake on them from the factory, maybe that's all it is? If you don't like it you could try some 1" lowering blocks in the rear to bring it down some?

When you replaced the springs, did you buy lowering springs or stock springs?

Re: Short Bed Question

Just to add my two cents is it possible that the rear mounts on the cab are collapsed, causing an optical illusion that the bed is high in the rear. I have noticed this on some trucks and it is really apparent on vehicles with the lower moulding as the body lines do not match.

Re: Short Bed Question

Here's an FAQ thread about the lowering blocks you asked me about. I've never made them myself.

I think we need to see pics to really figure out what's going on?

Re: Short Bed Question

I remember my friend had the same problem with his 72' Chevy truck. He has to make some rubber mounts for the rear frame where the bed sits on metal brace. I know he bought some 1" rubber spacers that sit right behind the cab to make the bed sit level with the truck. Hopefully that help!!
