Question regarding electronic speedos and electronic speedo output
It is my understanding that I could buy an electronic speedometer and hook it up to an electronic speedo output and set the correct ratio just through the gauge and not have to deal with speedo gears and all that. Is this accurate or is there more that I'm not considering?
Some background: I'm considering buying a transmission with an electronic speedo output and eventually going with electronic gauges to avoid dealing with speedo gears. Also I like the options that electronic gauges have. (I'm not referring to those ugly digital gauges.)

Re: Question regarding electronic speedos and electronic speedo output
i've never done one off a factory electronic sender// the ones ive done(stewart warner) came with an electronic sender that screwed on to the original gear sender at the tranny and dialing in was with dipswitches in the back of the speedometer// i'm sure they have to make something similar compatible with the factory electronic units ,to be sure i'd call the techline for the brand you're thinking of buying to remove all doubts

Re: Question regarding electronic speedos and electronic speedo output
I bought an Autometer electronic speedo that you can calibrate on your own. It requires a separate sender that bolts in place of the speedo cable on your tranny or in my case, transfer case. Just a couple wires is all that is needed to make it work. Haven't installed mine yet, but that is what the instructions state.
