Got the grinder out today. Sun was shining. I had aquired a free damaged double wall top. Decided to make a half cab today. Haven't finished cutting yet but tried it on the truck to see how it looks. Let me know what you think.Looking for ideas on how to finish it off.

Yep, done that.

I didn't need a 'perfect' finish so I just used spray foam to add rigidity.

Sprayed it in, let it dry, sanded out even and painted it black.

1st pic is where your at, 2nd pic is done.

Those would be 42's sir.

Way bad pic, bad angle and all.

Cool thing is that the top actually 'works'.

I'm finishing up a bimi for it that will fit underneath and cover all the way to the rear bar of the cage, so if I choose to, I can run both for better sun/rain protection.

You'll want some sort of support in the middle (rear) of the top cause now it'll be all floppy like.

I have my cage there thankfully for support but if there's nothing there, it'll self-destruct going down the road. (even with the spray foam it's very weak)

After driving around with it on it actually works quite well.It's not that heavy now so I can take it on and off myself.

I would try cutting some lumber to fit in the end, just use epoxy or fiberglass resin to hold it in, maybe use a router on the exposed edge to round it off. Sand and paint. It would add the rigidity you need and help prevent future cracking from cyclic stresses. BTW, when they add support in boat hulls, they usually lay wood strips in and just fiberglass them over.

Looking good. I've got one too. Works great to keep the hot sun and mud off my head.

I need to do a little more work to it, but definitely easy to take off and put on by myself!

Planned on doing about the same thing, but wanted full closure. Took a front bulkhead off a pickup and trimmed a little,still have to make up mounts to the bedsides..

As Hgs said, I want to cut a good outdoor wood and splice it inbetween the top and bottom fibreglas. If all goes well, I should then be able to slide the whole rear half towards the front and reattach.

I plan for it tobe a cab and a 1/4 when it's dun. Here's some pics. of the bulkhead:

Short version, I modified a 6' pickup bed by cutting about 3 1/2" off all the wood and SS strips. Used a rear crossmember from a '73 and up, has a 3/4" recess in it that accomadates the wood and gives it a finished look at the rear. Moved my wheelhouses up 3/4" by slotting the mounting holes and used fender washers to remount. There is alittle more, but that covers the magor stuff in a nutshell. Hardest part was fitting the small wood pcs. at the 'B' post area, ended up using a router and got a little heavy
