What do I have here???

Started stripping the top today for some much needed TLC. Plans are to repair all cracks, paint, and intall new weatherstripping/seals/domelights, etc before fall rolls around. Man, rebuilding this thing is $pendy! GMCPaul is making a killing off me...

I started sifting through my parts to make sure I had everything for the rebuild, and noticed my hatch struts look kinda funny. I don't think these will work as-is. Do I need a different end, or new struts altogether? Any one know what these are? Suburban? I'm lost.

Also, does anyone re-pop the dome light harness and panel? You know, the one that says "Disconnect before removing top" or something along those lines, and the harness from the fuse box to that plate.

Thanks -Chris

Re: What do I have here???

The angle iron type bracket is wrong.
IIRC both ends had brackets that are similar. The top brackets should look like the bottom ones. They should be like the smaller ones with the two mounting holes.
The struts themselves are correct, just the mounting brackets on the top of each one are wrong.

Re: What do I have here???

I just walked out to my top that is hanging in the garage. The top mounting brackets look a lot different from what you have. They are basically flat, not angle iron shaped. Those might be from a Suburban.

No repops are available as far as i know. You might be able to find them used. Or,if you cut the angle part off, you might be able to get those to work. Drill some holes and put some threaded inserts into the hatch.

Re: What do I have here???

Thanks guys. Just bought a set off the parts board. This place rocks!

Anyone know about the disconnect plate and the wiring harness, or will I have to find them used?

Thanks -Chris
