Re: You Must See This Ebay Truck.......

I wouldn't do a swap like this, but.....

I can understand someone wanting a 'new' truck w/o all the government hassles that come w/one. That truck looks more like a new vehicle than a classic & he doesn't have to worry any about emissions & stuff legally.

He could even go futher w/an LS1/auto OD drivetrain. I've seen trucks that were 'original' that looked alot worse.

I wouldn't want one like it, but I think it looks good. Better than being sent to the crusher, I guess.

Never was a fan of the black/purple/green chameleon paint though.

Re: You Must See This Ebay Truck.......

I think it's pretty cool. I would personally rather have an all '68, but what's wrong with someone customizing their ride? We all do it, but maybe not to that extent. Like I said, I like the the original version better, but I would definately drive this one too.

I don't love it by any means but I give him an A for thinking out of the box. Yes maybe it was an idea better left out of the box. I wish I had the cab!

Re: You Must See This Ebay Truck.......

There are various kits out there to make a late model vehicle "resemble" an older vehicle. I typically don't care for that stuff at all, but the folks that do like that stuff get "late model" performance with classic looks (or whatever you wanna call it).

Taking time, effort, and money to make an older vehicle look like a much newer vehicle and then have it drive and ride like a +35 year old truck.....I just don't get!

Everyone likes to do something that hasn't been done, but many things are best left undone......this is one!

A differnet paint job and wheels would help it a lot. I wouldn't buy it but if you gave it to me I would drive the crap out of it.

Only thing `68 about that truck is the cab and frame. A lot of work in it. Sure does nothing for me, though.

The guy had a vision and went with it. I give him an A for effort. Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder. It just may take a case of beer to see it.

I say there's some reason he doesn't show any under the hood pics - and I doubt it's because the engine is dirty.

Once you buy a truck you can paint it baby-vomit green and weld a giant crab to the roof if you want, but I won't be placing a bid.. :P

That must have come from the Island of Dr. Moreau.

Just think...there is likely a '68 truck driving around with a 2002 cab.

As much as I hate to say it, I almost like it. He should have kept a few more features of the 67-72 bodystyle though. The paint work is awesome. I'd like to see shots of the interior, and someone needs to tell the seller that spellcheck isn't a bad thing.

Not sure why you would do that. If you want a new truck why not buy a new truck?

Re: You Must See This Ebay Truck.......

I do agree about the bed...this one works slightly better than 88-98 for me. I also like the way the body lines from the original doors go into the new hood lines, but I would like to have seen more 1968 in the nose area.
I need to see some interior & engine-bay shots to make a final ruling!!!

Quick, someone unleash their "Trunk Monkey" to go punish that guy !!
LOL ! I want a classic to look like a classic, not a late model piece of plastic that is worthless for collector value !

Re: You Must See This Ebay Truck.......

I've wondered about doing just the opposite.. What if you took a 2002 and put a 67/72 front clip on it? Now that might be kind of cool. Then you'd have the modern features and driveline, but it'd have the style of the 67/72

Re: You Must See This Ebay Truck.......

Someone send it to GM. Maybe some of its engineers can make us a new truck based on the 67-72. GM can do another SSR type vehicle.
