New gauge panel problems

I purchased a restored gauge panel from a board member several years ago and I'm finally putting it to use. The one I'm taking out is tach dash also. The tach didnt work, he took out the oil gauge and is using a separate more accurate gauge for that. I thought the temp gauge was working but I'm not so sure now.

So I put it in and...the tach doesn't work and the temp gauge pegs. I haven't hooked up the vac or oil gauge yet, the battery gauge works.

I think I have the tach part figured out, but before I do anything I'm going to ask you guys. The dark wire goes to the coil, and its fine. I believe the pink wire goes to 12v, its not fine...its just dangling. Where can I plug it into the fuse box?

As far as the temp gauge pegging, I'm guessing maybe its just grounding somewhere. The sending unit appears to be under the header and heat shield. There looks to be a place for extra wire hook ups on the back of the gauge panel for the temp, but the old one didnt have any hooked to it.

Ill post a couple of pics, I'm using the old gauge panel for reference pics...thanks for any help. Hopefully I wont fry my truck messing with this

Ok, I got the tach fixed, just had to dig a little deeper. Checked the wire for temp unit to see if it was grounding...couldnt find anything though.

Re: New gauge panel problems

Took it for a test run...speedo needle bounces all over the place and the odometer clicked off one tenth than quit. I wish I could remember who I bought this from so I could get some ideas on what to look at.

Re: New gauge panel problems

I got a question....abit off the subject but that red wire with the pigtail plugged into the fuse box where it says CIG.....................just out of curiosity (and sheer stupidity cause this is another OBVIOUS question ) that wire runs to the cigarette lighter, right? And whats the white wire plugged into it?
