What are you guys using to cut your plate and pipe? Grinder/cut-off wheel seems like it would take forever...

I use a plasma cutter. It makes life alot easier. I think you might be able to rent them. If you have alot to cut i would highly recommend it. Cut off wheels work but i have broken alot of them when they get binded up and break so i try not to use them unless i need to.

i've used a cheapass jijsaw with excellent finetooth bimetal blades with good lubrication for the past 40some years dont think of anything else

I did my c-notch work on my truck with cut off wheels and a jig saw. 1/4" steel was not too hard to cut .

I thought about using my jigsaw, but didn't think it would be that effective. I'll give that a shot too. Between the 4.5" grinder, 3" die grinder, 7" metal cutting blade in the Skil, and the jigsaw, I'll find what works best for me.

sometimes i use a combo of cutoff wheel first, then the sawzall to finish it off.

Yeah, forgot about that one- the sawzall is one of my favorite tools!

i always used my cutting torch follwed by a pass with a grinder to clean the cuts up, but a plasma is your best bet for shure
