Reciever Hitch Options - NOT hidden

Hey all,

I need to add a hitch to the rear of my 71 Blazer but it's up in the air a good bit. I want a reciever hitch that hangs below the bumper rather than the hidden hitch. I know that most of y'all want the hidden option, but I need to know the ones you've looked at that didn't work for you because they hung too low. I don't want to run an 18" drop to hook up a utility trailer. I would think that all of you that have relocated the tank to the rear with a Blazer or Burb tank would have similar mounting options. I can't seem to find any 'regular' hitches - just the hidden ones.

Mine if from a 88-98 Suburban. I was lucky enough to find one that had 'bolt-on' end brackets (versus being welded to the main beam). I believe it may have been a 'universal' type. I simply unbolted the ends and reversed them (so the lips faced the opposite way) and drilled a few holes in the frame.
It hangs too low for my roll pan, so I will be installing a bumper sooner or later.

Thanks for the tip. Anyone know of a brand to look for for something like this? I seem to only find the 1-piece fully welded ones

I do not know if the chassis is different, but I put one on my '84 K5 blazer that hung below the bumper, and bolted to the frame. I cannot remember the brand off hand, but they are readily available. I bought mine from the chevrolet dealer I worked at (at cost,and on sale), for $65. And it was a high quality unit. You can pick one up at just about any camper store for about $150. If you need the brand I can find out for you.

I used a universal reece hitch on my blazer you can get them for 150 at wallmart.
