Im having a dilema with tach wiring

I bought a Sunpro 5 inch tach at a Car and Truck show last weekend.I have it all hooked up but when I looked for a 12v source thats only hot with the key on,I can't.All the spade terminals on the fuse block have constant power at all times. What am I missing here? I know there has to be a terminal somewhere that is not hot at all times. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if it's 12v or not but what about the ingition switch itself? I'm probably wrong but its just an idea.

Re: Im having a dilema with tach wiring

That's just what I did... took a keyed wire from the ignition. Works like a charm and I didn't have to run wires very far.

Re: Im having a dilema with tach wiring

Thats cool. Thanks for the help fellows. I have my tach mounted where the speaker in the middle of the dash was. Right now im in the process of replacing the rusty nuts and bolts that hold the outside mirrors to the doors. Yay for project vehicles.

Re: Im having a dilema with tach wiring

What if you are running multiple gauges? Like 2 or 3, where would you get the 12v source from?

You could always solder the 2 or 3 wires into 1 wire then tap that into your 12v source or run a distribution block for the multiple wires

Re: Im having a dilema with tach wiring

Thats what I was planning on doing. Running a distribution block from a 12v ignition source off the fuse block.
