Below are a few progress photos of the '66 Chevy K10 lwb fleet truck I am restoring. I am hopeful all the color is on by the end of the month. I will post additional photos, as the assembly gets underway. Enjoy.

Very nice work bud. Can't wait untill I slap some color on mine. BTW what options or what differences from K10 compared to C10?Also from your experience after painting the whole truck in parts is it pretty much down hill from here of a frame off restoration?

i have the same question do you paint it separate then put together . just what is the steps lillred i know you have done it a lot of times .could you put together an order list .you the steps .even if it's a quick one . i don't think it has been covered .

3speed 6cyl, The only major difference between C-10's and K-10's that I know about is the fact that K-10's are 4x4's. Other than that I think they're the same. Btw the cab looks great Lilred. Keep up the good work.

The frame rails and running gear are the primary differences. The engine and driveline options on the C10 and K10 models were virtually the same. All the dealer/factory options were available on both the 2wd and 4x4 models.

I collect dealer/manufacturer's literature showing the numerous options available on the C10 and K10 model trucks of 1964-1966. Even the badges for the 10 and 20 trucks are the same on the C and K series trucks.

While doing a restoration of this magnitude, I follow the agenda below:

Prepare a list of upgrades (if applicable)
Prepare a labor summary
Prepare a parts summary
Prepare a order of magnitude labor and material cost summary
Prepare a look-ahead schedule
Disassembly
Sheet metal to media blaster & primer
Chassis to media blaster & powder coating
Sheet metal to body
Sheet metal to painter
Rebuild brake system
Replace shocks
Pack all wheel bearings
Replace universal joints & carrier bearing
Replace fuel lines
Install rear wiring harness
Install engine, transmission & driveline
Set cab
Set bed
Assemble front clip
Install harnesses
Install bumpers
Install glass & rubber
Install interior
Hang doors
Install exterior trim
Install bed wood
Final dress exterior
Final dress interior
Total all labor hours
Total all material costs
Total all sub costs (media blaster, bodywork and painter)
Total all project costs

There are a massive number of small details necessary to do a restoration of this magnitude, but with a good plan of attack and a well prepared budget, the process is enjoyable and very manageable.

I don't have near the patience to do that much work into a rebuild. One day i'll go back and do 5/3 the way it should be.
