Project acquisition questions

I'm a truck-rebuild newbie (but definitely not a rebuild newbie) and I would benefit from the experience of some of you guys in selecting a '67 truck that gets me to where I want to be.

So:

- are stepside boxes a simple bolt-on replacement for fleetside on the short wheelbase trucks?

- are optional items like power steering, power windows, etc. available at reasonable prices?

- do you have a link to a good page that shows the trim differences between the various model levels in '67 (interior and body)?

- anyone know of a '67 swb C10 project for sale in Southern Ontario?

Thanks.

Re: Project acquisition questions

Stepside boxes are as simple as a bed swap.May be some harness issues but I don't think they are different.Power steering and brakes are fairly affordable since they can be done with factory parts.I don't know if there is a trim option list in the FAQ's section but you can search.67 is pretty much a bare bones year, most will be without A/C, few with PS and it may be ram assist if it's factory.Finding one is pretty much like finding any other type of project, watch the local classifieds, check craigslist, and E-bay and beware of Barrett/Jackson syndrome. You can also subscribe to the BB for $25.00 and use the classified ads here. You can post a WTB and look at what other members have for sale.If it's the front sheetmetal you like it's interchangable with all others as long as you use the complete clip.
BTW the 67 was the only year offered with the small back window.

Re: Project acquisition questions

PanelDeland,

Thanks. There are some good suggestions there.

This site clued me in to the differences in hood height between '67-68 and later years. Although it's obvious to me now, (and more attractive IMHO) I was unaware that it was raised in '69.

Was it done to gain additional underhood clearance, or simply for appearance? Are there differences in later front fenders (other than marker lights) and in the rad support/grill/headlight area that are required to work with the '67-68 hood?

Thanks for the education.

The front fenders for the Chevy 67-68 are the same as the 67-72 GMC fenders, but the 69-72 Chevy fenders are different. The 67 fenders have no side markers.
