what mufflers do you have?

putting the finishing touches on the red cash box.Exhaust wll just about do it. It has a 350 with a small cam for a little thump. Hedman coated long tube headers, and looking for muffler help. I believe I want flow-master but not sure what series. I want to drive this alot as well as long trips so mild is better BUT I want it to sound wicked when I get on it. I've tried the sound on the web site but don't get a good feel from it Let me know what you have and if you made the right choice.
Thanks.

Re: what mufflers do you have?

I'm in the same boat.....have some 15 year old 3 chamber flowmasters on it now that are falling apart inside and need to do something. I've been thinking about replacing them with 50 series Delta Flows (basically the same). I like the sound of Flows but would like to try something different, but don't wanna end up with something too loud or with a sound that I don't like.

I'm kinda interested in spintechs.

...and there's no way you can trust any soundbytes from the computer....just too many variables.

anybody have feedback on Spintechs?

Flowmaster 40's and turndowns in front of the axle. Sound good except at 800 rpm. They resonate, creating an annoying drone.

Re: what mufflers do you have?

Hey MUDDER....tell me more about your Supertrapps.

I have 2 sitting around that I got from a guy that owed me some $. They are the 19" long and 5" dia stainless models (see pic). They are brand new with I think 12 discs. I love the look of them, but I'm not sure how they would sound.

Right now mine has old 3 chamber Flows that need to be replaced

I'm thinking I would run them all the way to the back just behind the rear bumper.....too Loud?....raspy? Wish I could here them on your truck in person.

I know "loud" is relative to personal preference, but I hate to go to the trouble of installing them and not be happy.

Re: what mufflers do you have?

I have about 18-20 disks in mine, (same muffler that you have). Those babys are pricey. Adding disks will make them louder and open up your top end a little. They have sort of a muffled sound. Quiet when idleing and will get louder when you gas it. Mine exit in front of the rear tires. Try em.

I have Borla muffflers on mine. IMO, they have a better sound than the Flows. Go to Borla.com and check them out.

Re: what mufflers do you have?

Flowmaster 50 series have a slightly mellower tone than the 40's , but sound similar when you are on it

I have two vehicles with 40's , and one with a single 50 -- i cant tell that the 50 is much quieter, but it has a mellower tone

i have no real experience with the magnaflows or Borlas because the cost is out of the ballpark for me, for the slight performance increase they may or may not have

Re: what mufflers do you have?

Ravens baby! I got 2 used for $30 for a temp setup. They sound pretty decent. I heard they're made for Midas and are supposed to be their Flowmaster equivalent. I plan on going with Cherry Bombs after I fix a lot of other stuff.

Re: what mufflers do you have?

Without the oval tip covers, I want to exit these 2000 Corvette mufflers right where the rear plate should be. They were FREE and came off of a low mileage vette. Without the oval tip covers the frame rails line right up with factory hangers on muffs. Just a free idea.

Re: what mufflers do you have?

Not yet. I have cut off the "over the axle" humps and it should make a fairly straight exhaust without cats. They aren't stupid loud on the vette but sound tuned. I like a good tone but without giving myself away from three blocks.

Re: what mufflers do you have?

What I'd really like is a dual mode muffler that has an electronic solenoid to switch between a very loud fat race muffler sound, a quiter mellow cruising sound for the highway. That way I can have it loud around town and when at full throttle but have some peace and quiet on the highway.

Re: what mufflers do you have?

I have 40's on my 69. Perfect for that vehicle. I wouldnt put them on a daily driver, they are a bit too loud. I will probably go with thrush or magnaflow turbos on my daily.
