Dome light, is this right?

I have a 71 cab and I was messing with getting the dome light working and replaced the plastic (weird setup) and wiring.

Now, my cab is not set up with the door switches, the only way to turn on the light is through the headlight switch.

Tell me if this is right, these cabs don't have door switches?

Re: Dome light, is this right?

If they do come standard, where are they? I don't see any holes in the door jams with exception for the rubber stoppers.

Re: Dome light, is this right?

I think they started installing door switches in '72. The pins in my truck are located about half-way down on the door post (circled in red).

Re: Dome light, is this right?

Mine did not have door switches, just the headlight switch knob to turn it on and off. Mine is a stripper model though.

Re: Dome light, is this right?

My 71 has them. I think it was a option on the C/D and super trucks. Base models didn't get them. It was part of the trim package on the truck when ordered.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Dome light, is this right?

Any truck 1969 and newer COULD have them as an option.
They were included in CST/Cheyenne and Supers.

Re: Dome light, is this right?

Easy to add. Just install in jams and tie the white wire into the white wire that goes to dome light.

Re: Dome light, is this right?

Thanks all, I just thought it was strange the cab did not have any. You would figure I would notice this after having the cab torn down when I was paining it

Also thanks to those other owners saying thiers does not have it either and to the pic c10 driver posted I will know where to drill, and wiring to be done.

I need a new headlight switch too, the darn thing does not work very well turning up/down the guage lights or the dome on

Re: Dome light, is this right?

my blazer is a CST and does NOT have them. gonna add 'em, though. I could only imagine it's because they thought a person might remove the doors for 4-wheelin'...

Re: Dome light, is this right?

good point... the books I've looked at don't say much about the blazers... or the burbs for that matter.
For the pick ups...they were included in the CST package starting in 69. (they were never avalible in 67/68 trucks)

They also have courtesy lights under the dash that you can add. I think LMC sells these.
