what's she worth??

hey guys, its been a while since i've posted anything on the board here. i kinda miss you guys, and all your good advice. Im currently attending school to become a mechanical engineer. but doing so, im gonna need to sell my beloved truck as im a little too tight on money. what im wondering is how much i should ask: it was appraised for $25,000, i have close to $30,000 into it.
-300hp-vortec 350/700r4
-2500watt stereo
-2 1/2" drop spindles, and 4" drop coils
-flip kit/drop hangers in rear
-front/rear custom fabricated roll pans
-candy pearl paint- lamborghini orange (spring 07)
-the list goes on.

how much should i ask?!?

Re: what's she worth??

What is your timeline? If you can sit on it for a year, I'd ask 30-35k and just wait it out, you might get lucky. If time isn't on your side, go for 25k and hope for the best, but expect to end up taking the highest of the low-ball offers.

The biggest problem you will run into with that truck is this: it's very unique and beautiful, but there are probably 5 guys in the world that want their custom truck to look exactly like that. Everybody has their own take on how to build their hot rod. This one is yours, so that leaves 4 other people in the world who are dying to buy your truck. If time is on your side, then you'll be a-ok. If not, expect to lose some money in the process...

The truck is awesome though, I love it. Great color, and the wood bed is beautiful.

Re: what's she worth??

Are you in Canada? If so I'd try to get no less than 20 - 25k. Being patient helps.

Unfortunately, unless you are Troy Trepanier or Boyd Coggington, it is rare to recoup all of our investment on a custom truck, but yours is definitely slick if the pics are accurate

Most of the Canucks on here say clean sheetmetal is at a premium up there.

Down south in the US - i would say maybe 15 (but again - if you are patient enough, you may get what you need eventually)

Re: what's she worth??

What's it worth, or what will it sell for? There is a big gap there on 73-87's right now. It is a nice truck and I don't want to hurt your feelings, but the market won't get you near the appraised value.

Re: what's she worth??

If you really want a test, run it on eBay and set a reserve. Just don't start the bidding at $10k or it won't get off the ground.

Re: what's she worth??

I'm a former prairie boy from Saskatchewan living in Kelowna, BC now. There seems to be a pretty big spread in the value of trucks in Canada. From what I have seen out there compared to how your's looks, you should be able to get 20K or better quite easily (if you find the right buyer). The quality of the truck looks incredible and if I had a spare 20 lying around, I might snap it up for myself.

It really depends how much time you have and just as importantly, where you list it.

BTW: C$ & US$ are about even or the C$ might be worth more than the US.

The price of used trucks in Canada is disproportionate to the exchange rate -- so that logic doesnt fly up there for some reason

Re: what's she worth??

Well seems how I am from SK, I will say that the market for 72-87 trucks just isnt here right now, I would hope that you would get at least 15K for it, but if you have it appraised at 25K, you might want to think about having it "Stolen" and possibly parked on the tracks LOL

Well there goes my theory about truck prices in Canada.

(i am instructing my semi driver to turn around right now, he's almost to VT with a load of vintage rust free steel to off load to the Canucks --- )

kind of like when Kramer and Newman tried to drive to MI to recycle bottles but wound up catching the Postal van on fire

Re: what's she worth??

I would have to say it would go for 15k tops on ebay. And I would take that wing off the roof before you try to sell it.

Re: what's she worth??

As you can see, the general consensus is that there is no general consensus on the worth of your truck

Re: what's she worth??

very nice truck but being from the praries im finding people would rather lease new trucks with dealer installed lift or lowering kits and wheels then to spend more then 10k on an older truck stock or rodded. but hey you never know list it for what your hope for and see what happens

Re: what's she worth??

if you absolutley don't have to sell it...don't.you'll regret it later.not trying to step on toes.but you won't get what its worth.these trucks are worth what ever someones willing to pay.people that really know them.like us forum members, put a whole different value on them than the rest of the custom car crowd.and i'd hate to see you settle for some low ball offer.just because you need money.and...i'll say it again.that's an awesome truck.

Re: what's she worth??

I personally have not seen any of these era (box style) trucks bring $25K... not saying people don't have that invested. You do have a VERY CLEAN looking rig, but it's also customized to a specific crowd as well (you have limited the buyers). Again JMO... good luck with your future sale.

True , In my area The price of these trucks has been going down . I can buy running shortbeds right now for what a good body alone was selling for 2 years ago . With the fuel going up and the economy down , people will continue to drift away from these trucks . Even if the economy holds , the higher fuel prices with future fuel supply problems ( not going away but just getting worse ) will send the demand for these trucks into a black hole .
