Re: Were a good place to order a New Crate Motor?
your local gm dealer is a good place to start, you can get a 350 longblock for 1400 bucks. and you can pick it up at the dealers so no shipping.

Re: Were a good place to order a New Crate Motor?
crateenginedepot.com seems to have the best prices that I have found. Not sure about shipping since they are in Illinois.

These prices are still a little high, but will give you a good idea. For some reason the 250hp crate engine is not shown. I called my local dealer and it's about $1,450 for that one. Dealer prices should be cheaper than the GPPD prices.

Re: Were a good place to order a New Crate Motor?
When you do purchase the crate engine, make sure to keep all your receipts for the engine, maintain you oil changes and record dates / mileage, etc. I had valve stem seals fail on my 290hp engine, GM was difficult in work with but fixed the problem in the end.

bring a Summit or Scoggins-Dickey catalog with you to the dealership if you go that route -- maybe they will come down even further

Check around diffferent GM dealers. Some will give you better deals. Some would rather not mess with them.

Re: Were a good place to order a New Crate Motor?
Here's what I did on my Ramjet 350. I shopped every freakin website I could find, and get the bottom dollar deal. I called that site and they said it would be 2-3 weeks for them to ship.
I then called Summit Racing and asked if they had it in stock. They did, so I asked if they would match the "advertised" price. They looked it up and matched the price. Then they shipped it for free the same week. It don't get much better than that...

Re: Were a good place to order a New Crate Motor?
I have bought a couple of GM crate engines from Martin Cadillac-GMC in West L.A. over the years. Had good prices and always had what I wanted in stock, including a 6.5L diesel.
