Re: Manifolds or Headers?

We could go round and round all day long.I`ve always put headers on my trucks and that was the first thing we all did with our trucks. Were we stupid or just not all technical back then? They sure seemed to run better.RV owners ran them for some reason, too. My engine builder throws manifolds away.I don`t hate them. But,I have had more trouble from them than headers over time...none with headers and three trucks with fatigued manifolds.Yeah, they were originals. But,that`s all I`d use.If I buy it`s headers. What ever you do in the future, you`re set.I change motors and leave the exhaust.Headers will never hurt performance, that`s for sure. When the factory builds a performance motor they design manifolds like headers.Look at Viper & Vette manifolds, etc.I like a tube per hole.Get that gas outta there. That`s what exhaust is all about.
I sell manifolds to lower the cost of my headers.Guys throw away stock intakes to buy ill fitting aftermarket manifolds for no to little benefit, yet argue over headers and ramshorns.Go figure. The same principles argued are true in both cases. That`s my take.

Re: Manifolds or Headers?

hmm so one thing that no one ask is what is he building his engine too or for..Ramhorns flow well. as well as any knock off block hugger. The manifold is designed for a purpose weather if be long short, equal, tuned. but if the guy is not building for power then what does it matter. What good is it to get the spent gasses out if you cant get it in. ie stock or rv cam, cheap intake, stock heads. Thats when these things come into play.

Re: Manifolds or Headers?

so the point there was... there is no real benefit 2 headers other than looks, and maybe a little hp, but negligible to the fact that there is not any more air goin in to get out.

Re: Manifolds or Headers?

Well since you already have headers, shoot some hight temp paint on them ( it will since come off but not as quick ) and hang them in there. You just saved some money.

Re: Manifolds or Headers?

That`s my point, too. It`s just a matter of preference. The differences aren`t worth a debate. We`d have to go way beyond exiting gases...
