Cheyenne Question

Did 1971 cheyennes have wood grain molding and dash componets or just the cheyenne super? I have a interest in a truck and need to know some facts. I think the truck used to be long wheel base, not sure if cut, swapped cabs, or frames but would like to know what kinda of money a shortened truck brings. Here are a few pics . Thanks in advance, kinda new at all this

Re: Cheyenne Question

In my opinion, if the truck was a long bed Cheyenne and it has been shortened then it just becomes another truck. I have a Cheyenne Super shortbed that has no woodgrain in it but had the full Cheyenne interior. I had the woodgrain trim on the outside but I have taken that off. That's a sharp looking truck, is that the one your looking at? Shortbeds are more popular than the long beds and usually have a higher price tag than longbeds. If everyonekeeps shortening the longbeds then one day my longbed will be worth money.

Re: Cheyenne Question

My guess is that`s a put together truck (you knew that, somewhat) that used Cheyenne fender badges, but not a real long or short Cheyenne. It`s common for guys to do that.I wouldn`t pay more for the choice in badges, though. The e-brake and brake pedal are standard truck, for one thing.I removed the woodgrain from my door`s interior, too. But mine`s a`72 which is what that door panel is.Did the guy not choose woodgrain lower beltline moulding to go along with the badges? They look black in the pics.Nothing wrong with a nice Custom/10 in my opinion. It sure is nice, but I`d have to look it over closer to say a value since it`s put together and fresh shiney paint.

Re: Cheyenne Question

Cheyenne had lower woodgrain moldings and woodgrained door panels with headlier and cargo light as well as bright moldings around front and rear windows as well as bright vent windows. Super had wood grained instrument cluster and glovebox door as well as door panels, lower woodgrained moldings bright tailgate handle and special cloth seat (hounds tooth). It included all things in cheyenne package plus. I would check to see if it had been cut or swapped, what type of condidtion the engine is in- ask for reciepts- From the pictures that truck would go from $4000 to $8000 locally. Without driving and being able to see the condition of the driveline/ overall truck it is very hard to tell. How long has it been painted?, does it overheat?, what type of oil pressure does it have?, what type of codition are the brakes and steering in?, does the trans shift as it should/ fluid smell burned or is it nice and clean?, are the cab mounts solid?Rockers and cab corners, tailgate? how do kick panels look- under the mat not where it is pretty? has the wiring been hacked?- price depends on lots of factors to me not just pretty paint
