I was taking my bed apart on my stepside and I was wondering the best way to get the fenders off because when I tried to remove one of the screws it started to strip so I stop. I thought I would ask how you guys get your off before I tried anything else.

My bed sides were shot, so I took my grinder with a cutting wheel and ground off the heads, then yeanked them off. I tried on a few to use a rachet set with the screw head, but the 30+ year old screws kept striping out.
On my replacement bed, I cut the bolts from inside the step fender (grinder again). Got to be carefull so you don't damage the fenders. Don't know any other way myself.

ya i had to grind my bolt heads off as well for the same reason as palf70step...those old bolts are tuff cookies

If you have access to a welder you can place a large nut over the screw head and weld it in the center, the heat from welding will help break the bond and then just use a ratchet or wrench to remove.

I used a vise grips on the head and twisted them off.
