Tailgate ?

I need a little with a tailgate. I am going to look at one the guy says it is original paint ans straight at the top. Has a few small dings. First is there a way to know for sure it is from a 67-72? other then looking at pictures I don't really know how to idenify. Seems like tailgates are getting pricey can someone please give me a range of what I should pay?
Thanks for any help.
Jack

Re: Tailgate ?

as far as i know these gates are all the same, things to watch for are make sure the spot weld are not letting loose and that the bottom is not rotting. for a real nice gate expect to pay between 250 and 400 dollars, from what i have been told they are worth it cuz the aftermarket ones suck!!

Re: Tailgate ?

I would get an LMC catalog and study that. It will show you all the different tailgates and options...but you can make any '67-'72 tailgate work. You may just need to order some different trim, etc. I too am looking for a tailgate. Brand new w/ all the hardware you are looking at the $400+ range. I would expect to pay about half that for a used one, otherwise I would spend a few extra and get a new replacement. Hope this helps-

Eeew, yeah... I have heard that the after market one's are not the best either. I guess that's a tough one-
