orange paint

is there a specific name for the color orange on these trucks or was it just simply orange i need to know so i can go get my truck painted soon

the color im painting mine is called hugger orange i think it was used alot back in the days and i love the color im in the process of painting mine now only have some of the interior done though heres a shot

They had several orange shades. What year truck? This is my 71 and it is #514 Light Red.

On the build sheet and glove box plate of my '68 pickup, it was simply called "516 Orange." In '69 they called it "Hugger Orange" [after the Camaro], but I could be wrong and Hugger might be the shade with more red in it. In '72 it was called "Sunbolt" or something snazzy like that. The hard thing to figure here is that Chevy and GMC had slightly different shades or even different names for the same shade. Also the 3 digit color code was not consistant from one year to the next. "Tangier," sounds cool -- like tangerines -- approximately the color of my '68 516 Orange truck's finish when new.

took mine to a local "carpaint" shop ( local automotive paint supplier),was gonna get some touch-up paint for the 68,they put the color analizer box on the hood and it came back w/ a "66 ford mustang signal flare red".looks just like a gm hugger orange.

My 71 is painted red/orange or orange/red, I don't remember which. The paint store pulled out paint chips for the 1971 Chevy Trucks and that was the name they had.
