Does it really make a difference on the braking and where should i be looking for parts if i decide to go that way?I have put two new boosters on mine and it doesnt seem to change that fact that i just dont have good brakes,aka sometimes they work great but at times they kind of suck.....lol.About what can someone expect to pay for the hydro setup?i know it is probably out of my range but trying to get some ideas for stopping this beast.lol. thanx guys!

Junk yard + 1 ton chevy + $75 is what I have in mine. You can do it for under $200

The biggest advantage of hydroboost is it doesn't depend on engine vac to operate.

I've driven two trucks with it and both have stopped really well empty or loaded.

Fom your description what cam are you running? Do you have any vac leaks? Just thoughts off the top of my head. If you have good brakes with engine rpm more than idle and very little brakes at idle I would be inclined to think you may have either a vac. problem/ leak or to much cam to run a vac assisted brake system.

I have already set my 70 up to use it. The most expensive part of the system is the booster. The master cylinder, power steering res. and hoses shouldn't be expensive at all. I would venture to guess that jkade is correct about 200.00 or less from a junkyard. They can be found in higher gvw 1tons, box vans, maybe some 3/4 tons.

running hydroboost on my truck need to get rear brake hardware i have been waiting for info on the disc brake kit from another board member.
i have used these guys for all my parts and info.

i installed hydroboost on my Br*nc* and i was kissing the steering wheel every time i braked. thought it was overkill at first then i hauled my trailer and had to make a quick stop......it was well worth it.

i purchased a saginaw P/S pump from these guys that bolted right up to my original P/S brakets.
Br*nc* brakes set me back about 400$ because i bought everything new and had others do the work(hoses). on the C-10 i am at about 235$ and that is a used hydroboost from ebay shipped 100$ and P/S pump brand new for 95$ shipped.

i got hydroboost on my Grand Prix factory option because my car was originall a diesel it stops really well,

another plus is the size on the firewall instead of say a 10" around booster to build around you have a much more compact unit i'm going with a hydraulic clutch so i figure a hydro boost will help with the mounting

Thanx for the tips so far guys.I dont think mine should be anything to do with cam as i am just running the 265hp gm goodwrench stock so far.i have tried different boosters and i can not find a vac leak anywhere?

Also check the GM trucks/suburbans with the diesels. I found a couple set ups for $200 a while back. IIRC you will need the rod between the pedal and the master cylinder and it might be a good idea to get the steering box too because the fittings might be metric. You can find them with either a remote reservior for the power steering pump or one that is integral with the pump.

Saw this one out in the self serve yard Saturday,1/2 price too.
Actually I'm real pleased with my stock brakes. Maybe you should go into one of those big name places and get a free brake check,hear what they say.

I have never ran hydroboost till this one ton!!!!!And it rocks!!!!!!!!!!Very very smooth,id recommend it!!!!!!!!!!

I dont know if there is a size difference but the local Pull a Part is full of Chevy Astro vans with hydroboost.

Here's a link to my detailed post of installing a hydroboost setup on my 69 K20 - I went from manual to hydroboost so the difference was incredible. I would highly recommend this swap.
