Re: Shops / Garages
I ove the idea of building it completely from wood and have the outside showing how comfy it feels inside!
In germany everything is a bit more complicated so i have to have a professional do the math for the structural integrity and the county allow me to build that style of house in the desired place! IŽll also want to have some better "gasmilage"(donŽt know the right term!)and go with what they call earthwarmth and solarpanels for electricity and warming water and storing rainwater for the toilets and washingmashine! Works great and saves money in the long run but the costs for installing and buying all that go up first! However-- i like the american style and i want it around me!

Re: Shops / Garages
Here's my 40x60 shop - I am so lucky that it was already built when we bought our house, I would never had been able to talk my wife into letting me build a shop like this!

Re: Shops / Garages
boy, thats the truth --- When i was in the planning stages of my 30' x 40' garage/loft, i thought to myself --- "This is going to be the perfect size - not too big, not too small" -- after filling it with 2 full size truck projects, a 150 sf weight room, and miscellaneous other motorcycles and tools, there is no room for a lawnmower (not that i want to look at one anyway) -- i dont even have room for my wife's DD and she has to park it at our old house. I can definitely see the need for another 30' x 40' (or bigger )to use as a dedicated shop within the next 5-10 years

Re: Shops / Garages
This is my shop. We have a two car attached garage so this one could be all mine. BUT, the kids like to play on the concrete pad, so I have to share space with the kids toys and bikes. I think I can suffer through it though
