Re: when aquired how much did you pay for you trucks?
Fairly rust-free '62 Suburban, original 283, Granny 4spd, original full-width rear seat frame with it, and a fair amount of "park by feel" and "Wiring is easy!" electrical work. $2,100 two years ago. Flew out to Joplin, MO, paid the man, changed all the fluids, bought a set of WalMart tires and drove it 1,000 miles back home to Atlanta with my 10 year old riding shotgun.
Since then, brakes rebuilt, full set of original wheels, new 3/4-ton radiator, dual reservoir Power Brake conversion, re-wired front to rear, straight and rustfree (but ugly) '60 grill, restored dash cluster, rechromed front and rear bumpers, new exhaust, and 290hp GM crate engine backed by a 4spd manual OD trans. I've also found an original front seat for it. Got a LONG way to go, but I've driven it more than 20,000 miles, and love every one of them. -Brad (I'm not keeping track of the $$ in it, though now I'm thinking I probably should for insurance reasons)

Re: when aquired how much did you pay for you trucks?
Man, these trucks just don't appreciate much. My brother bought this truck in 97 for $2000. He sold it to me in 07 for $2000 after having done a bunch of upgrades. It needed a lot of TLC. I didn't want to rip him off, and I couldn't pay him all the money right away, so I ended up giving him $2500 because that it had upgrades like shoulder belts, rear mounted gas tank, 4-speed overdrive auto tranny and 300+ hp.
fercho71. I would say 500 was a rip off for that truck (those taillights ), but you sure have done wonders to it! I guess you could spot a diamond in the rough. |

Re: when aquired how much did you pay for you trucks?
Mine was something like $2500 new off the dealer's lot in 1964. To me it was free, or maybe I should say it cost me a Grandpa.

Re: when aquired how much did you pay for you trucks?
I paid $1250 to the original owner of my truck in 1981 .
When he bought it new in 1963 he paid $1200 . Not bad when you use something for 18 years and sell it for a $50 profit . It still had (and has) the original warranty and battery booklet and the original owners manual .

Re: when aquired how much did you pay for you trucks?
I gave $750 for mine. Straight off the farm where it sat under a tree for twenty years even. Straight as an arrow, rust free, 60 some thousand miles. Picked it up from the second owner who is in his seventies. Funny thing is, the lower it got, the more he liked it!

Re: when aquired how much did you pay for you trucks?
I stopped and looked at this one yesterday. 63 no motor no tranny, guy said they were stolen out of it. Hood was in the bed, floor was rusted out in some spots. Bed on right side looked like someone hooked on to it with a tractor and took off. Left side was straight as an arrow. Snapped this shot out of the window on my truck. Said he wanted 900$. I was interested in the hood , bumper and right side of the bed. Told him to give me call if he didn't sell it.

Re: when aquired how much did you pay for you trucks?
Paid $1200.00 for mine 1 1/2 years ago. Came with a 400 small block/turbo 350 combo, a 2 inch front/3 inch rear spring drop and some old rusty chrome deep dish wheels with wide BFG's all the way around. Gas tank was sittin' in the rear due to a pinhole leak that was never fixed and hadn't run/been registered in 9 years. Put her back on the road with a 32 gallon fuel tank out of a '77 blazer, disc brake swap out of a '75 parts truck (that I bought and drove home for $150.00!).
#1 As it sat in the previous owners back yard #2 1st day in my driveway (after a full days work to bring her home)

I have 500 in the 65 and 600 in the 64. Just enough good parts to build one truck.

Re: when aquired how much did you pay for you trucks?
250 for the C10; 500 for the Flatbed and 1500 for the Panel. All of which were in good condition when bought; since then, the C10s engine needs to be rebuilt or replaced; the Flatbed is still running strong, but could use some exhaust gaskets; and the panel needs the brake system looked at.
