I have a 1971 c10 (as the paper work says) but the cab vin is differnet and says it is a c20. Are there any other id tags on the frame or any where that I can id the vechile?

On the frame look by where the steering box would be on the top of the frame, you might have to scrape real good as 30 years of grease and dust usually covers it all up.
