hey guys I need some input. Is it better to use the painless wiring setup or the complete wiring setup from like LMC. does the painless wiring include all the wiring from headlights to taillights or will I still need to do more wiring after purchas? please help!!!

I am not an electrical whiz and I was lost in space when trying to install a Painless wiring harness. I encountered lots of issues with different colored wires, compared to the factory harness, different style connectors and lots of extra wires for aftermarket accessories, that I did not need. I prefer the plug-n-play variety when dealing with wiring. That being said, I have seen some of the freak-show wiring jobs that other bolters have done, and I am amazed at how easy they make it look. In closing, sum up your ability with electrical and proceed accordingly.

appreciate the input Tony. I'm an electrician by trade, but have never afforded the time to really get into trucks until the last year or so. Too busy working I guess. Not worried about wiring, just which is best to use. thx

I have to say that NOTHING compares to a PAINLESS wiring system....IMO...

I had to rewire a 78 C-30 one time....(in cab fire)....let me tell you the wiring was a perfect fit, and then some. The 78 is a tad more complicated than out trucks.

They offer extra circuits built right in to there harness's which is cool (ie: PW,PS etc.) which you can use for other acc.

Updatesd fuse panels are cool too.

I think they have the market sewn-up.

However, if you want a plug and play, then you might want to loko elsewhere.

If you have time, and love to build custom jobs (like I do) and love to route wires neatly and differently (in soe cases) then the Painless kit is cool, because the harness's are longer in most cases.

They offer specific kits as well as universal kits that would work too.

Not a salesman, but just think they offer wonderfull product.

I am in the process of installing a universal Painless harness in my 64. It was purchased about 10 years ago for another project that just never got off the ground so I decided to use it on the truck. It is a pretty nice kit. I would probably buy another Painless kit but would prefer the model specific kit instead of universal though. Wiring is not one of my strong points, to say the least. Another harness that I, personally, would consider buying is an American AutoWire kit. They appear to be nice kits, but I have no first hand knowledge of them. Good luck!

I used an EZ wiring harness. I never have wired a vehicle before and I thought this harness was real easy to install. On the plus side its a couple hundred dollars cheaper, and quality wise its real nice. Everything works great with mine never had any issues with it. Jeremy
