Side exit exhaust

The more I look around and see some of the different side exit designs, I think I will stay away from it on the 4X4. I like the look on some of the lowered C-10's but not on a few of the 4X4's I have seen.

I normally dont like this newer stuff (blue one) but this thing is really growing on me. It looks like a real brute.

I like the tips that came on the late 90's early 00's Z-28, the square look, would look decent flushed into the rear quarter or the roll pan? Just a thought, with some sheetmetal and an imagination you could make what ever you want. Those NASCAR tips are just that, sheetmetal, imagination and some time.

This is the Joe McPherson (San Francisco) truck I have mentioned a couple of times. It has a slew of modifications, from the lack of drip rails, the use of a full set of '88-98 wheel well openings, etc. I used to know who built it for him, but forgot. He drove it cross-country, after it was completed. It is one of the best trucks of this genre that I have ever seen.

Although I was talking about the late model blue rig I do like the yellow truck quite a bit and its modifications BUT Im not digging the wheel wells shape at all.

I like that style too and is how they were ran on my 80 Camaro,my 02 Dodge Ram,and my 72 at one time. I think that is a very clean set up and sounds great too. My Ram had them tucked a little higher so that they were barley seen.

That's generally the kind of exhaust system I curse about at venues where there's dirt on the ground. The slightest breeze and the whole place ends up getting dusted when someone comes through with the pipes pointed at terra firma.

What yellow dodge?


I like my pipes coming straight out the back just peeking out from under the bumper maybe around two feet or so between the pipes.

That yellow Dodge is a modified 71 Chevy truck. It was featured in 3 different magazines and drove "Long Haul" on the Hot Rod Power Tour in 2001. The truck has a big block 502 with a Ram Jet TPI setup on it. The owner built the front end grille and the dash out of van parts. (that is a little off from my idea, but the undercarriage is outstanding in my mind. The rear axle is a shortened one with dual wheels on it. I kind of like the way he ran the exhaust outside the frame and eliminated the need to go through the crossmember support. That made the side exit very clean and there was no exhaust pipes hanging under the frame. Everyone to their own taste, the truck looked and sounded great in Elk City, OK. The guy was knocking down 18+ MPG with it and could eat up some asphalt real fast.

i dont like it. i know its got alot of mods...but looks plane to me. the mirrors totally ruin the entire truck. those things are disgusting!!
