67 Bench Seat Help Needed - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Does anyone have any good pictures of what the seat adjustment mechanism is supposed to look like? I have a recovered factory bench seat that has a keeper on the driver's side with an open face. The previous owners had used the magical duct tape to hold the bar on that goes from driver's side to passenger side. The passenger side keeper has a closed end which easily retains the bar. I'll attach some pictures to hopefully illustrate what I am referring to. The first picture show the driver's side. You can see that the keeper is open on the end that retains the bar. The last two are the passenger side which is closed so the bar stays put. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply 71tahoe. Yeah, it's the driver's side I need so i will definitely appreciate seeing what you have on that side. But these are helpful too, because I at least know I have the stock pieces on that side. And your wire (in place of the bar) across gave me an idea too if I can't figure out exactly how it SHOULD be. If any others have pics of the driver's side, I'd appreciate it!

The wire was more of a necessity thing. I have 2 other extra seats and only one of them has the correct rod. I'll probably try to find some heftier wire if it ever goes back in one of my trucks. I also have 2 rolls of wire that ties the bottom of a chain link fence. It looks about as stout as the stock rod.

OK, so hoping maybe a weekend reader can help me. I can't put my seat back together until I know how this is supposed to go. Can anyone snap a shot or two of their driver's side seat mechanism and how it attaches to the bar that runs across to the passenger side?

Looks like there is a spring and a clip missing from yours. I have a ton of junk on and around my good seat but it looks a lot like the pics from the previous post.

Hmm, thanks guys! Anyone know of a retailer where I can get those parts? LMC doesn't seem to carry them.

Your local fabricator is your best bet. I like to use welding rod instead of wire because it is less likely to give way. You can thread it, and use a connector in the middle since it won't reach all the way.

I know this is kind of an old thread, but does anyone have a picture of how the springs connect to the floor, both for the bench seat, and the buddy bucket?????
