new rear end

I have a 72 c20 with a new 330 hp 350 ci crate motor. Holley 600 700r4 and I have a Dana 60 with 4.10 gears. How hard would it be to get a rear end from a newer 2500HD to bolt up to the frame and be able to have rear disk brakes ? Or should I just keep the one I got ? I use the truck mostly for work. I do tile work and general construction so I do carry alot of weight usually. Would 3.73 gears be better or worse ? Thanks !!!

Re: new rear end

3.73 gears would probably make it a litlle more daily driver friendly. It would probably be pretty hairy to swap a new HD rear end in. It would probably be easier/cheaper to just buy one of the rear disc kits from a site vendor.

Re: new rear end

if your pulling alot of weight around, and your not doing a whole lot of freeway driving, you'l really miss your 4.10 gears.

they make a world of difference in terms of low end torque.

what a nice job getting to drive around in a c20 ...are you hiring?

I agree, if you are runnin a 700 r4, I would leave that big dana in there. Even on the highwy, she will run easy with that .7 OD. Thats a good stout diff, just go aftermarket on the disc brakes ,& keep a big smile on your face crazyL

Yep, V8 auto... and dont laugh, im a RWD n00b (last project was a 2003 WRX) but people go for a higher ratio for more top end, right?
