what is considered a tune up? plugs/oil/filters/zerks? more? less?

I just picked up this truck, and it runs OK but has some hesitation when cold, and im sure the engine is a little tired. Eventually I plan on having an engine rebuild done (by someone other than myself)
What is considered a fair price for that kind of work to be done by a reputable shop?

Oh another few:

- what are popular power steering options?
- How could one expect to pay a body/custom shop charge for a gas tank relocation and hiding the fill neck.

Before you roll eyes - I have tools, just no garage, so many of these projects are not doable in a dirt driveway

oh, and what size is my stock in cab tank? I cant find that info!

ok since you just got the truck I would do this for a tune up
change oil and filter new air filter and fuel filter. Then change plugs/cap/rotor and points and condenser if it is that old points type dizzy. The tank is a 21 gallon I believe.

those are usually the first things that i look at/change reguardless of when the owner said it was last done. also you could have a 19 gallon tank behind that seat

Since you mention a hesitation I would also suggest you check the vacuum advance.The diaphram may be cracked and leaking causing the advance not to operate.I had this problem on mine.I replaced the vacuum advance and fixed the hesitation.

the vacuum advance is on your distributor, near the passenger side valve cover. it should have a vacuum hose attatched to the nipple
