something different 66 long travel truck
Well, what can I say for you guys that know me from this site! This is different for me lifting a truck and not with air ride but this truck will have some air bags too. I have this clean 66 long bed with a flat bed on it. I lowered it and was going to use it to pick up parts and stuff like but never drove once after I lowered it so my ol buddy nate (porterbuilt) had some fab tech stuff on the shelf he wasn't using so I scooped them up. I have almost finished my 78 and I'm waiting for parts on the 66 sub so me and nephews (Jake aka Waldo and Dave) got after it. We tore it down and scraped all the crap off it. The build will be the 6"fab tech lift, 4"spindle lift,6 shocks up front and hoop with a cross over bar, limit straps, the rear will have slam bags but in a different location than stock, and track locator on the rear with a hoop with six more rear shocks. The bed will be just bed sides and some cool front and rear skid plates and push bars.

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
omg thank you so much!!!! finally a lift instead of a lower!! no offense to yall but i just like lifted trucks. so what would all that cost if i wanted to lift my truck? also what would be my options for a lift in the rear (other than bags)? im not too good with anything suspension wise, i was dreading rebuilding my front end because ive never done any kind of suspension or steering work. looking at your truck and work ive just decided im gonna do a lift and that looks just about how i want it. looks great and thanks again!!

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
Very cool Dino!
Hewlett, You can just flip the rearend to the underside of the trailing arms for a quick/simple lift. I've seen it done on a 67-72. Last edited by Frizzle Fry; 03-10-2008 at 10:13 AM. |

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
might wanna get it aligned, lol
but seriously, that is some hella extreme ground clearance, even with the little tires.

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
so what year model truck are those parts for? is your front end stock except for the new parts you just added? will 73-87 lift kits and such fit the front end of my 66? sorry for all the questions, just curious so ill know what to get when i do my truck. also if i flip the rear end to the underside of the trailing arms how much lift will i get?
thanks, John

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
Are you going for a 4WD look w/ mudders, or the DONK look w/ 30+ rims?

Re: something different 66 long travel truck
Cool, i had a 96 chevy stepside 2 wheel drive i put a 6 inch fabtech lift on with 33's yyyeeeeaarrrrssss ago. I guess the big tires and such killed my power and truck never seemed to drive right no matter what i did so i eventually lowered it again. When you get a set of tires on there i think it will make it look really good.
