I was just reading through your post again and its funny how we've done some of the same mods and went about doing them totally different. The end result is what matters and yours look great. You are doing a great job keep it up.

Yeah I noticed that also. I also have found myself doing things one way on one side and changing for the other. It all depends on which side of the bed I woke up on.

I honestly don't mind. There's nobody in my neighborhood who is into doing this stuff. This is the only place that I can talk to like minded people, other than when my brother comes over but he's into f#%ds.

Well I finally got to the cowl.
The 1st pic is the original.
I stated by tracing the curve in some 16 gauge sheet.
The new piece.
Trial fit for size.

The ends need to be bent down to match the curve of what's left of the old cowl.

It's to the point now where a little filler and it should be good to go.
I'm eventually going to weld it to the cab.

What do you use to shape the metal to make it match the piece you cut out?

That looks really good so far. Now much did you have to curve or bend the metal to match both the front and the rear of the cowl cover?

I only had to bend the ends to get them to fit with the old cowl. I know the old one had a slight curve that went the whole length. I wasn't sure what I was going to do but once I got the ends to fit the rest looked O.K.
I just used a body hammer with a round face to shape the ends.
I know some guys put a piece in for each section but I didn't want to do all the extra welding for that.

The cowl looks very nice Kim. I havent thought about doing this modification, but were these vents simply for air to come into the cab? Any downfall of doing this?

They also let a lot of debris collect in the lower cowl area. Mine was rusted out on the passenger side and I had to rebuild it. I plan on running AC so I'm not to worried about ventilating the cab.

Is there any down side leaving the vent as is aside from debris getting in there? I live in a very wet area and have concerns about water getting in and rusting. I still like the idea of fresh air and mine seems rust free but if its a common area for rust I might have to close it up as well.

The only down side to leaving it open is that stuff can get in and cause a rust problem.
The rust wasn't my concern as I saw one at a show with it closed and liked it so that's why I did it.

Here you go Kabwe
This is my Forest Gump moment (not the first nor last).
I got ahead of myself on the drivers door. I cut the radius at the top just like I did on the pasenger side and low and behold I had a huge gap when I put the radius on the cab.
I ended up having to add a new radius to the door along with a piece of welding rod to the back of the door to fix it. The pics tell the story better than I can so here they are.

Heres a few more pics of the fix. I still have to finish dressing the welds.
The gap at the top was larger than I wanted also so I'm fixing it also and will post pics when it's a little farther along.
