Which SWB frame is better for Drag racing?

I've got two 67 SWB 2WD's, and was wondering which frame would be better to start a Drag Racing build upon. Trailing arms or leafs??????????

Please add why, and possibly what will be needed on the chosen frame for best results. I want to stay streetable, so 11's should be the fastest I want to run.

Thanks,

A.........

I would vote for trailing arms! I have been 5.81 in the 1/8 with trailing arms! I have an antiroll bar and coilovers with stock frame rails front to back.

I also used to have a street truck with just coilovers that hooked pretty well on m/t sportsman pro's!

I also have a pretty fast 468 short block I would make you a deal on!

trailing arm...nascar runs them...djracer goes in the 8s with them...pretty simple and hard to screw up...also no wheel hop problems

Agree... Trailing arms. I'll be swapping from leafs to them soon, and Ive done a ton of research on the subject.

If you can find a set off of a 3/4 ton truck as they are plated and reinforced so no flex. Trailing arm all the way. I am working the set-up on a 2wd Blazer, I plan to scare folks with a bit of a 500ci BBC and a 5-speed. Good luck!

Cool......I just happen to have a 3/4 ton 2wd longbed. The arms will work right? This project will go slow, but it has definitely started!!!!

Thanks for all the feedback,

A........

I'd like to get 2500 but might entertain an offer! Its a 4 bolt block with steel crank, Lunati Pro Mod Rods, Wise co Dome pistons, Ls7 oil pan, Dampener balancer and an Sufi Fly Wheel. No timing set or camshaft. The cam is borrowed and the Timing set cost almost a grand!

Yeah, the trailing arms are the same from late 60's through 72 for 1/2 ton and 3/4's. I am in the process of gathering the stuff to put my 2wd Blazer on kill, 3/4 ton trailing arms, 3:73 posi, NV4500 5-speed, 469-505 stroked and poked BBC. Should be FUN to drive!!
