Pics...did someone says pics??? LOL...pic whores!!! Ok, A arms and crossmember all wearing 3 coats of Rust Bullet...Black top finish coat next. Hopefully my MOOG parts will show up for their paint and assembly soon. Lil' Red in the background. As you can see all Lil' Red's factory black parts are accented in silver...so this truck has to be black frame and parts.

Those parts look awesome! How does the Rust Bullet hold on smooth metal? POR15 isn't so hot. I prepped all my front end parts in a glass beader, then re-degreased them and applied the POR with a top coat of chassie black for the UV protection ( shiny side is supposed to stay up, right?). When I was installing the new brake line clips on the crossmember the clip turned, and when I turned it back a nice sheet of POR 15 and chassie black moved with it leaving a nice patch of pretty bare metal. They say that POR 15 is supposed to be applied over metal that still has the imperfections of corrosion for the adhesion. I thought that we were doing this to stop that process from happening in the first place, so it would be nice to find something that works on smooth/new metal.

I saw the "overkill" first hand on Saturday, and I am impressed with the Rust Bullet! The surface feels rock hard, and control arm that has been painted looks like it was powder coated. I didn't take a hammer to it to test how tough it was though. If I had done that, Alex might have thrown me in the booth and gave me a permanent coating of bed liner! But I think the hammer would have taken the brunt of damage!

The Rust Bullet is rock hard. Sticks tenaciously to all metal...smooth or rough. The Black is not a Rust Bullet paint. They reccommend covering their BlackShell top coat with a clear...and I am not into doing that or going through that much work...so I used another "special" black over the rust bullet silver. Control arms and ball joints arrived today so I hit them with some RB. Glock is right the black came out like powdercoat, I am truly amazed and very happy!

Alex that is looking sweet! I haven’t painted mine, sorry I wasn’t able to give you any tips. But thanks for you info! I plan on spraying mine while on the truck. I’m suing a Binks M1 sl, pressure feed with 1.7 fluid tip. I’m just about ready to have the truck prepped.

I did not spray the RB silver. I foam brushed 3 coats of it, sanding with 120 paper inbetween coats and then 2 coats of the Black.

This reminds me of me so much when ever guys bring in parts into the shop they all want me to clean them because I do the best job. It is nice to that someone else is as OCD about how clean vehicle parts need to be lol.

OCD = Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I don't look at it like that...just like to do things in the correct manner... if I'm going to do it. After all, This is project OverKill!!!

Upon opening all the Rock Auto supplied MOOG parts...someone put a Spicer top ball joint in the MOOG box. Sent it back for the correct MOOG part. Control Arms have been coated with 2 coats of RB and are drying in the 1st coat of black. Assembly...soon! Gots to call ECE!!!

The OVERKILL continues....I didn't like the black color tint so sanded it all up and re-shooting another black. It is hard to photograph black, to represent it, as it is...wow. Anyway...it's Gloss Black.

Not to hijack thread but has anybody used any of these PAINT OVER RUST " type " products AWHILE BACK on a daily driver in all weather? Do any of them really hold up well or is a bunch of hype

The silver rust bullet paint truly dries hard as nails.

LOL...it's just the way I see to do things!!! Check Project OverKill...front end is in on a shorhened 68' long bed frame and a 496 BBC is about to be put in place.
