Frontend shake?

I have an '01 GMC 2wd that has 3" lift spindles on it. It has a shake in the front end from about 50-65mph. Thought it was tires at one time & had them rebalanced, but didn't help. Later on got new tires & still no difference. Nothing seems to be loose. Some days it doesn't shake as bad as others, so I'm totally confused. Any ideas? My ole man says it probably has something to do with the geometry being screwed up because of the spindles.

Re: Frontend shake?

The first thing i would look into is the brake rotors. If they are warped even the smallest amount, they will vibrate at a certain speed, depending on the amount of warp. When u press the brake pedal does it vibrate, even the smallest amount? If its not that or u allready eliminated that, then i would go with the spindles being a little off, possibly not machined perfectly, so u get a resonance at that speed...

Re: Frontend shake?

Check ball joints and tie-rods for any play and shocks for wear. Any play in the rod ends will be amplified by the big tires. Same with the shocks if they are old; they will not be able to dampen te oscillations from the bigger tires.

Re: Frontend shake?

The only other thing i could think of is possibly bearings that arent doin what their supposed to? But other than that i have no idea, theres a million things that could do it, the problem is that its impossible to find the problem most times...
