Alternator pulley

Well, as some of you know, I bought a Powermaster 140 amp, chrome alternator last June, from Summit.

I noticed the other day, a small spot on the pulley where the chrome had flaked off. So, last night, I went to Powermaster's web site and found there tech support email address and sent them a friendly email. Sent them a pic of it, the one below. I asked how I would go about getting another pulley.

Here is the reply I got this morning. Pretty nice and prompt I think. Don't you just love it when you get this kind of service and not some kind of run around? I give a big thumbs up.

------------------------------------------------

What is your address and I will get one sent out to you?
Thank You,

John Brady

That is really cool!!
Get this ...got one even better than that...Last week I bought my self a birthday present... A new Weight Bench and Some weights...

The Bench was on clearance since it was damaged...the smaller seat was split from kids playin on it. So instead of $189 I paid $50!! haha
I called the manufacturer and told them...I just purchased this unit and the seat is split. They said fax us a copy of your reciept and what you need and we will get it out to you.

So I send them a fax on Friday after noon about 1pm.....Monday morning before I leave for Work...FedEx is at my house with the parts free of charge!!!
Friggin amazing... I called them and told them it was greatly appreciated and the best cust serv. I have ever had in my life!

Cool huh!

Nope, no chrome belt.

Just a reflection off the alternator.

Dave,

that is cool. It makes you feel better about some of this stuff to hear stories like this. I get so sick of hearing how companys are stiffing their customers.

Wow, that is good service. I agree it's good to hear these types of stories.

The way I see it, good customer service is cheap advertising for companies. I would imagine your positive endorcement of Powermaster products could easily get them a few more sales. As opposed to the effect that a negative response would have on a board like this.

Just one final thought Mike:

I think the fact that you sent them a "friendly" e-mail helped as well. Getting upset right away just makes everyone defensive and resolutions are usually harder to achieve. Just my $.02.

Oh Dave - nice weight bench. If I had the room in our house, I'd like to get an actual universal gym - oh well - some day.

Yes, I've found over all these years that friendly works a lot better. If I had sent an email demanding they fix or replace it, and raising all sorts of crap, I very seriously doubt I would have received the email I did.

My mom used to say "you will catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar". I used to think when I was a kid, what does this have to do with anything at all? Who wants to catch flies anyway?

Now I fully understand everything she ever said to me. She was/is a very wise women. She turned 90 December 1st.

Snaggin' up deals is always great, or getting great service.

My uncle bought a '93 Ferd Tempo off an elderly man for $300!!!

He said his wife was the only one who drove it since new, until she died so he just wanted to get rid of it. Car only had 15,000 miles on it and everything was spotless.

Helluva deal even considering what kinda car it is.

I always start out nice with people through the internet, but sometimes you have to get strict when you think they may not be taking you seriously.

My new pulley came today. Emailed them last Wednesday, and it arrived today. Not bad. Pretty good service if you ask me. And to top it off, absolutely no cost to me.

i wouldnt argue that with anybody. if they paid you $5,000,000 to take it, its STILL just a Tempo.

Sweet dude, sweet. Powermaster seems like they rock! I have their mini-starter and when my truck was running, that thing kicked great! Too bad I can't even use it, just collecting dust in my storage.
