Re: Duct Tape

As long as the rest of the cab is fairly decent just patch it. As long as its done properly it will be good to go indefinately. Doesnt look like it needs a whole roof. I have patched a couple of cabs with rust in small areas above the gutter, and no one can tell anything was ever replaced. Just get all the rust and weld in new metal. P.S. Yesterday I was replacing the hat channel of a 70 chevy truck and found about half of a sunday edition newspaper rolled up inside with bondo on the outer covering. I did the lazy thing and got rid of the bondo'd up newspaper and replaced it with a new metal hatchanel in about 30 minutes time.

haha, my cab became apparently useless after I sandblasted it. I have since decided to so what you suggested and make it a topless truck. It's killing me to not be able to use it to work when I need to. So I think I'm gonna just scab the floor and cut the top off until I can find another cab.

Vdog- have you looked in all the corners of your cab? the rear cab corners, rockers, cab supports and kickpanel?
I'd decide if it's worth patching or not depending on how much more work it needs, and might be worth finding a better cab if there's alot more rust..

Chances are you'd open that corner of the roof to patch it, only to find the whole inner roof needs some care.

What makes me want to patch the cab is the prices I find for cabs. One guy wanted $700 just for the cab and when I saw the pictures it look as bad as mine. I did find a whole truck not running, for $300.00 but it was sold two days before I called. The point is, how long do I look for a cab or do I just start working on mine.
