Well, first a story....I went to NAPA to get some small parts for the build. They had the rear U-joint in stock but didn't have the U-bolts for the lower A-arm. I was going to have them order it but shipping was going to cost more than the bolts. Looked around but couldn't find them cheaper so I went back to the NAPA to order them. Walked in and the guy I talked to was there. He says wait one minute...walks to the back, and presents me with the u-bolts. He had them transfered at No charge and had saved them for me. $8 for the four (CPP wants around 60 shipped for these) They are 9/16 so I will have to enlarge the saddle holes, but I wanted the larger ones. Thought that was cool of him to do in today's business world of poor customer service

Here are the pics from tonight

Passenger rocker

Driver's rocker

Filling in the seams to make it nice and smoooooooooth

All cab supports done...couple small rust spots in floor patched....

Started filling in unneccesary holes in the door jambs...did I mention I want it smoooooooooooooooth

Started on the drip rail. I'm having him weld the seam at the corners where the factory just put in seam fill....feel safer with that welded that the panels won't want to shift....

He's going to weld the seams then weld this area he cut before moving any further with the cutting. Not 100% what some would call shaving the drip rail, but I like how the finished one above looks where the line still carries around to the doors....

I like the shave drip rail...

I thought maybe you fabricated the tailgate panel. How much did they charge you for the machining it? Just curious?

The panel ran around 250 shipped...they sourced and purchased the steel, machined it, and shipped it. Should have it in a few days...

Well, got the panel in today with the spacers and another panel I had made. I have a few other ideas in mind but not sure yet...

Here's the extra panels and spacers how they were packaged and the panel

Here's the other idea I came up with. This panel will be installed where the factory speaker spot is (welded in flush....not overlayed). The defroster holes will be filled and round defrost outlets installed on the edges of the dash.

The last pictures above showed approx how the panel will look once welded in. Covered the handle opening with electrical tape since that will be filled as well.

Got a lot done on the truck today. I didn't get over till later in the afternoon but worked late on it. Should have the front end buttoned up and on tires next time over. Got the rear all together and all bolts tightened with Loctite. Also did loctite on the front crossmember. Got the control arms put together with new ball joints pressed in the lower on Jason's shop press. Installed the new upper ball joints and the new cross shafts and bushings in all. Got upper and lower arms installed. Installed the steering box for the final time. Got to get some shorter bolts for my airbags and then will mount those, measure for and drill the holes in the lower control arm plates, and then put the spindles on.

Figured I'd start off by showing how nice the factory brake lines look after being cleaned up

Here's the calipers taped up ready for paint

And painted with gloss black ceramic caliper paint to match the rear calipers

Finished up the rear trailing arms. All that's left on the rear is to drill the bolt and fitting holes for the airbags now that I have their final location set.

Not sure how this will show but trying to show how I put red loctite on all the bolts to make sure they stay put!

Here's the spacers installed. They fit great

Got the entire front welded up. Just needs to be ground down now...

Got the cab back upright as you can see...that was interesting

But no damage and it looks good. Probably won't be quite this low but close....
