Stay with 6 or switch to 5.
I am going to be running 22's on my 68 C10 should I switch to 5 lug or stay with the 6?

you will probably find that there are about 10x as many 5 bolt wheels to choose from than 6 bolt once you start looking for them. I know for me it seemed like there were 100 5 bolt wheels for every one 6 bolt

How many five lug trucks are being built now? I used to work at a tire\wheel shop and six lugs are getting built more and more so wheel companies are keeping up with car companies so I say stick with six.

It's a matter of personal preference. For less headache and work, go with the 6. Nowadays, there isn't a better reason to go with the 5-lug setup, that I can think of.

Ive been debating this same thing.....and like Shortbed70 said, there are more and more out there. I found what I wanted (so far) in 6 lug....saves me $200+ for rear axles....and that will buy my dropped spindles for the front!!..WOOHOOO!! LOL

shoot I cant think of the name off the top of my head...but their AMERICANEAGLEWHEEL.COM I think..... Not a Classic wheel, but Im not looking for a restoration! Im looking for somewhere between balla and clean!! lol
OK I found it.....American Eagle Wheels, Series 026 if what im thinking right now....but that could change before I go buy them! 6 lug rotors cost about 10X what a 5 lug rotor costs. (remember, this is NOT a one time purchace in parts... plus, if that ONE 6 lug rotor company goes under... then what?)
$200 to convert rear? You can do WAY better.... junk yard 5 lug 71/72 rear 99% of the bling 6 lug wheels out there have a too-small pilot hole... could be a problem. |

Ive got 22s on the rear and stayed 6lug. The only problem with that is the drum brakes in the front would not stop the 20s in the front! I ended up putting a CCP 6 lug front disc brake set up on. I also went with a 3 inch dropped spindle to make every thing work!

The 06 stock 6-lugs wont fit without boring the center hole out some as they are too small for our hubs
If you want to stay 6-lug then you should prolly go with disc brakes & I found that CPP has the rotors for like $130 bucks But like Andy said, what if they stop making them |

To answer your question though, yes with modifications. the bolt pattern is the same, but like everyone else has said, the center hub is smaller on the newer trucks.

I would pick a wheel you like and let that be the deciding factor. I am going with 6 lugs b/c I got a good deal on an ECE setup that was 6 lug. But, like LonghornMan said, the 5 lug rotors are much cheaper and easier to find. There are more wheel choices in 5 lug that will fit, unless you are going w/the really nice custom wheels. A lot of those are made to your specifications, so you can get them in 5 or 6 lug.

I think I might go 5 lug too for the conversion them 6 lug rotors with shiping are around 210.00. anybody in NM want to trade some 15x8 rallys 6 lugs for some 5 lugs?

i have a set of Bonspeeds that i have on my 99 silverado 6 lug, i tried to put them on the 70, and the center bore is too small, but i could get them to fit if i use a 1/4" spacer.

i ended up having to have the centers on the front wheels bored out almost 3/8ths of an inch by a local machine shop. The backs were only a quarter of an inch and the came off of a 2004 chevy truck.

do yall think this wheel will clear the rear hubs on a 6lug 68 c10?? I used to have these on my 2001 and I remember the hole in the middle being to being for the hub on the 2001, so that would mean that it should work on the 68, right?

As for lug count, I stayed with 6. I bought my rotors from Frank (Pickmup) and in the long run the cost is small, considering the number of years that I expect these to last. I've got a nice, healthy, stock 1968 Posi in my truck and the price is far less for a set of rotors than a replacement dif. Besides, I like the option of maintaining the stock look....I love my Centerlines but who knows when my tastes might change.
There are many, many nice 6 lug options to choose from now a days! |

I must be missing something here. NAPA sells 5 lug rotors for $75 and 6 lugs for $45. I just replaced one on my K10. Why are some of you saying the 6 lug rotors are so expensive?

2wd vs 4wd. 4wd 6-lug rotors have been around since forever, but the 2wd 6-lug rotors haven't. They are different.
