Exclamation Help!! I need an answer QUICK!! Estimate on the price of a truck, pictures included!!

To make things sweet and short, I was going for a run, and laid my eyes on this truck. It was instant love. I was saving up, for an impala, or vehicle along those lines, for a first vehicle....but when I saw that, I knew I had to have it. He said there is rust under the truck, But If I can buy it, I want to make it look brand new, new paint job, wheels, I want her to look amazing....BUT I don't have a clue as to what to offer for her. The guy said $3000 for the body, and another $4500 for the V8 engine...I am in Canada, so it's Canadian dollars, of course ( which is par, maybe a bit ahead of the American dollar). I will show some pictures, I'm sorry if they don't show a lot. The guy hasn't taken care of her at all, so I believe it's not in the greatest shape...it's hard to see it just lay there for months and months. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, if all goes well, It will be my first, and favorite vehicle. It's weds night right now, and I would greatly appreciate answers by sat morning. I know it's short notice, took a while for me to use the forums.

By the way, I'm sorry for the pictures, I know they arn't the best...and don't show everything. That is pretty much all I have seen of it. Any suggestions or comments would be very appreciated as well....thank you!

Chris

Good Lord! I didn't know the dollar was that far down!

Anyway, I'm with jtrux. You could buy one heck of a rig in the states for $7500 and have it shipped!

I'm thinking $1500ish for the body, tops. Let him keep the engine and maybe get a stocker 350 for cheap. Good luck!!

Way too much, from what you've shown. One of those prices by themselves would be more like it (depending on how it runs etc..)

I would pass if he wants $7500. Are you saying he is asking $7500 or you could fix it up for $7500?

Depends on how much rust, but little rust and running I would pay $4000.

By the way, Welcome, where in Canada are you?

Yeah. But are they the rare ambulance engines?

Back to the original post: Out here on the left coast in the People's Republic, a non-runner might get $2.0-2.5K, if it's really clean and no rust.
I paid $3.5K for my '72 GMC; crappy, sun ruined paint & trim, and sun destroyed interior. But no rust and under 30K original miles.
But that was a tad over 3 yrs. ago.

I dunno, maybe I stole the dang thing.

3.5k tops for the truck running with the motor, i am assuming you mean 3000 without the motor, and 4500 for the truck with the motor, right?
anyhow.... yeah 3000-3500 tops with a rust discount, or he can keep the rust and you can kick in another 500.. that would be a great deal!
good luck!
i got mine for 2500 and its a short fleet in ca with no rust and it had a healthy 350 with a one piece driveshaft and lowered&primered... look around there are still deals to be found on these! dont settle for ok, get the best your money can get you.

it usuallly takes about 3 days for buyers remorse to set in, so if you buy it saturday you will really enjoy it until tuesday,.... the worst part is that the seller will not send you a thanks for business card, like a seasoned car salesman would............ that being said, if I like what I have purchased, (for whatever dollar amount), the buyers remorse fades quicker. .......... life is good, kent

Re: Help!! I need an answer QUICK!! Estimate on the price of a truck, pictures includ

You would be best to find one in washington- oregon area. The money spent shipping a good base to start from, will far outweigh the work required to fix the rust in just about all the canadian trucks. As an example of how rare rust free trucks are up here,,,,,. I bought a 72 Blazer in oregon for 4500. It was pretty good shape for a blazer. It needed rockers, a bit of patching on the floors by the kick panel, and complete paint, upolstry, and chrome, to be a nice truck. I had a guy offer and give me 12000 for it. So I had to sell it. Before it was gon, I found another in basicaly the same shape for 3500 in washington. Bought it, and now that will become my blazer build,,,,,,,,unless someone offers me silly money for it again. This one will be at least 15000 to make me want to part with. I have this one hidden,,,so I'll probably get to buil this one.

Heres a pic of the one I sold

In my parts of the country, everyone thinks he's got a gold mine. Here's one I inquired about on Craigs list. He wanted $2500

I would pass on it. It certainly is not in $7,500 condition. If it had factory AC, a big block, tach, buddy buckets, disc brakes, cruise control and all the other C-10 options then maybe it would be worth it if it did not have the rust issues. You would never be on the plus side of that truck.

It is really hard to tell for sure what shape the truck is in without seeing it in person. I would personally say that it is a 2000 to 3000 dollar truck with the motor. I would not personally go 4500 for that truck. But I also believe that it is completely up to you.

Actually, that one looks like it might be worth looking at a little harder - pretty ugly with surface rust, but may be some potential.

I'm not good at body work so I really have to find a truck that won't require too much done to it. I wouldn't care if it came without an engine but I always look at the drip rail and above the windshield for rust through. If I see rust there, I walk away.

Now, if I was interested in using it just for parts, it might be worthwhile looking at it.

Eventhough those steps make awesome hot rods... I have to agree with everyone else, that is way to much money!

Maybe he had something slipped in his coffee or had a weird cigarette?
