bagging front of 71 questions

Well I got the front suspension apart. Got the bumpstop bracket off the lower a-arm. Started to mount the cups in and decided to go ahead and cut the cup. I the cup is 2 1/4" tall so I think Im gonna cut an inch off. Should I cut anymore off? I also read where they replaced the arms with 73-87 arms. Should I do this? What are the advantages?

The only difference with the 73-87 arms from your 71 arms is the bushings on the cross shaft. The 71 uses a solid steel bushin where the 73-87 uses a rubber bushing. There are no upgrade kits for the 71 arms, but you can change the 73-87 to urethance bushing that are available from many companies. If your bushings in your 71 arms are good, I don't see any reason to change them.
