another question on disc brakes

Swapping over to disc on the front,The question i have is,on my 67 gmc truck can i use the upper and lower control arms on the truck are do they need to be replaced? The reason i ask is all ball joints and bushing are only 2 years old. I Have a 72 front disc set up as the replacement. I figured if i could swap spindals for now then build up the other arms for the future. Any help on this is appreciated.....thanks

Re: another question on disc brakes

Sorry, but disc brake (71/72) spindles have different ball joints then 70 and older drum trucks.

Re: another question on disc brakes

Yep, 67 A-arms and 72 spindles with the right ball joints. I am not sure, but the upper might be the same, but lower is for sure different.

Re: another question on disc brakes

The steering stop on the lower is differant - you would have to modify it to work properly.

I just did mine with 88 3/4 ton gear and used 73 upper and lower ball joints on my 68 arms. also had to use the 88 steering parts.

Re: another question on disc brakes

If all the parts off the 72 are in good condition I'd just swap all the 72 stuff over to yours.

Thats what I did on my 68'. Found a complete 71' front crossmember...cleaned it all up and bolted it to my 68' frame, disc brakes.
