Ignition power wire

Hey There,

Can anyone tell me which wire on the back of the ignition switch and where it runs to? I'm looking for the wire that "turns on" the accessories at the fuse box. Seems that it might be loose a little or something as my tach keeps flipping off and on. I checked all those wires and they are good, but if I wiggle the key the tach comes back.

the pink wire.
However, that is probably not the problem.
Crawl under the dash with a flashlight and a small flat head screwdriver. Unplug the harness from the back of the ignition switch. Check the connection (both sides, harness and switch) and look for evedence of burning.
Very common.

If there is burning? What is the fix?

The problem is that GM runs ALL of the power thru the ignition switch.
Almost every GM that I have looked at, the ignition connector at the key switch is melted, not a good sign.

replace the switch, and the pigtail, and put a glob of dielectric grease in it. This will keep it good for another 20 years or so.
