1961 chevy short stepside. the body repair welding has been done and some bondo that needs redone and surface rust from sitting outside in its birthday suit. It has a 350/350 (I think) Its in a million pieces but it runs and drives. I forked over 500 bones drove it on the trailer chained er down and drug it home.

OH and it has the wrong hood on it! I may or may not put the correct hood on it.

Whats that? You want pics?

Well ok if I have to

These are the P.O. pics from KSL.com add Ill get some better ones later

Moved to the year specific board.....not parts board.
I am going to delete the one on the 67-72 also.

Re: I tried to make it sit and stay but it followed me home anyway

So lets get a better look at what I got shall we?

NEW PARTS! appears to be almost all the cab rubber and window felts.

HMMM new bed strips paintable but no bed wood

I did a quick price on the new parts and came up with over $300 worth not including shipping. I only paid $500 for the truck

Rust repairs, new steel welded in, not the purdiest but less work for me.

Glass is all good and not cracked yellowed or bubbled.

Re: I tried to make it sit and stay but it followed me home anyway

Theres new parts installed as well all new throttle cable and gas pedal assembly. New speedo cable. And it appears to have a newer "partial" wiring harness but its pretty hacked up job and will need to be redone.

There is also a new stainless tailgate chain set in there somewhere.

The engine and trans are 350 and th350 confirmed. According to the casting number its a 2 or 4 bolt main from the mid 70's

NOW could someone show me a pic of a original 61 front end with stock hood and grill? I did a search but it seams most people change them up too much to know what the correct stuff is.

EDIT: I have crawled under and over everything. Most of the bondo is pretty thin and covering new steel thats been welded in. Such as the rear of the front fenders, corners of the doors, and cab corners. its not great body work and some will need to be cleaned up and perhaps redone, but at least all the cancer has been cut out and replaced.

Re: I tried to make it sit and stay but it followed me home anyway

So the correct grill for mine would be dual headlights and chevrolet letters and of corse the hood.

Thanks

Re: I tried to make it sit and stay but it followed me home anyway

That would be nice but im sure shipping would kill both of us.

Idealy I would like to trade someone the correct stuff for my truck rather than buy that way 2 people are happy.

Re: I tried to make it sit and stay but it followed me home anyway

your grille looks like a 62 deluxe.
the deluxe, or custom had an aluminim grille. the standard trucks had a painted grille.
the aluminum grilles are rare, and really rare in good shape!

Well heres my grill, I dont have the headlight buckets or trim or whatever you call it. Its a little dinged up but nothing serious.

Is it in good shape?

Re: I tried to make it sit and stay but it followed me home anyway

That is a 62. 63's are round around the headlight. 60 and 61 had 4 lights.
63 to 66 had 2. 63 is also the first year for front coils. You should have a torsion bar front end. The torsion bar front ends have bigger ball joints IIRC.
