confirmed: I need an engine.... in Iowa.

it smoked up a storm (blue) getting it to the shop, and couldn't go very high on revs... would knock too much.....

cam is pretty flat....

I can get a 350 that was recently built with a 327 cam, but had some issues... for $100... and take that to a builder, or I can just go with some form of crate....

it's gonna be a year or more before I get to doing an real resto work on this thing. Ijust want something I can haul with a putt around town in....

thoughts?

I went with a GM crate motor 45000 miles ago and was very happy until I put the NV4500 in now I need a better cam,2300 rpm at 75mph and 14 mpg could be better with cam the stock does not have the low end I need for that.

I'd do some looking on craigslist. There has to be some engines floating around Des Moines. You might check with board member IvelDesigns (Levi). He might know of something....
